Amanita magniverrucata

Common name: The pine cone Amanita
Spore Print: White
Habitat: Grows on the ground, mycorrhyzial
Edibility: Unknown, probably deadly poisonous!
Comments: At first this mushroom appeared to be weathered bad and wasn't quite sure what it was. I dug it up and was surprised to see that it was an Amanita! When I got home, I keyed it out to be Amanita magniverrucata. It is very easy to identify by the volva (cup) and large warts on the cap.
